We need something big in the industry. Things are getting a bit stale if you ask me.
Job board software is not evolving fast enough for me. We need more features, more ways to make money and a better long term planning form the various job board software vendors.
Right now the 20 or so vendors power thousands of niche sites across the web. Unfortunately many of these sites suck at marketing themselves and telling the world that they exist.
So what can we do to fix that?
If I had the funding here’s what I would build.
A single job search platform that would aggregate the worlds niche job boards into a searchable interface.
I would approach companies like Smart Job Board, Niceboard and the others and say give me a feed of your jobs so I can send those sites traffic.
I would index them for free and work with the vendors to implement a way their boards could buy traffic. from this new platform. I’d also probably have to have some form of advertising to help with overall revenue of the new site and give job seekers options like resume writing services.
Ideally I would buy a small national site that is still arounds and has some organic traffic. Then build up that with content marketing.
It would be a lean business but I think it could have some good profit margins.
There are so many niche job sites out there that have jobs which never get much traffic.
I just think there has to be some way we can help job seekers discover these jobs beyond what sites like Indeed do.
