Most job board software that is available today is very good at SEO out of the box.
When it comes to the best ones to choose its hard to go wrong with Smart Job Board, Jobboard.io, NiceBoard just to name a few.
These platforms are already designed with Google for Jobs in mind. They have all the proper meta data on the job description pages and generally all you have to do is add job content and add your site to the Google Search Console.
URL strings are already set to mimic the page and browser header. Here’s a sample from Smart Job Board;
And one from Jobboard.io;
So when it comes to evaluating SEO for a job board software my top choices are essentially all the same. SJB also let you set up redirects (in their enterprise package) and choose the blog URL structure which is also important.
Ranking in Google or Jobs
When it comes to Google for Jobs it is getting harder to rank. More sources are added to it everyday so the more jobs you have the more traffic you will get. But for the most part you may only get 1-2 clicks from G4J per job because of all the duplicate job content they crawl. The more duplicate jobs you have the less traffic you will get.
The two best things you can do to your jobs to rank inside G4J is have a unique job title and ensure your jobs contain salary information.
The above mentioned software tools also let you create blog and page content. You should become a “content machine” on your job board to rank outside of G4J. Do your keyword research, write a blog thats at least 800 words and use the same keyword url structure.
SEO ranking takes time and effort but if you grind it out and consistent create content for your niche the rewards are there for the taking. If you ever want a deep dive on SEO for job boards consider hiring me for an hourly call.
