In the immortal words of Slim Shady: Guess who’s back….back again?
Facebook Jobs!
Yep its true the company announced on their site on Monday October 13th.
Their aim is somewhat of a niche play saying they want to find ‘new ways for young adults to find local entry-level job opportunities on Facebook.’
They shut down the service more than two years ago. Here’s a quick timeline.
- February 2022: Facebook discontinued its jobs feature in all countries except the US and Canada.
- February 2023: Meta officially shut down the jobs feature for all users, including those in the US and Canada. At this time, it also ended partner integrations with third-party job sites.
According to their post, “if you’re looking for entry-level, trade, and service industry employment in your community, Facebook can help you connect with local people and small businesses who are hiring. Jobs on Facebook are public and visible to all adults 18 years and older. “
I dont know how they plan to target ‘younger’ users if the JOBS tab is visible to everyone. My daughter barely uses Facebook so this may be an attempt to bring younger users back to the platform.
Here’s how it works;
You can easily search for new jobs via our dedicated tab in Marketplace. Job listings will also appear across Groups and Pages, and you can filter and sort jobs on the Marketplace Jobs subtab by category, distance, and job type. Learn more about discovering and applying for jobs on Facebook here.
- Jobs tab on Marketplace: Explore the latest job listings near you in a dedicated space within Marketplace. Tap the Jobs tab on Marketplace to browse.
- Groups: Job posts may appear in relevant local and career-focused Facebook Groups.
- Pages: Local businesses can post jobs directly to their Facebook pages.

I checked my app and it indeed appears with local jobs in my area. They gave the tab a nice spot at the top of the marketplace.
The original jobs section became littered with spam for the most part and they were allowing publishers to add jobs via API. That doesn’t appear to be the case this time. But I have learned they have partnered with a few big job sites to stock the listings.
For Employers
If you’re an employer, you can create a job listing on Facebook through Marketplace, your Page, or the Meta Business Suite. You can read more about the steps to create a job on Facebook here. Apparently you can post jobs in groups too.
I tried accessing it on desktop and it does not appear. Seems to be mobile only at this point. A quick check of the job posting form does not show any space for a redirect URL so it may only accepts applications directly on Facebook. That should help weed out the spam. A number of filters are in place to ensure jobs are legit.
This move is a total surprise to those in the job board world. Will this time be different? If they can keep out spam and make it easy for employers to use, perhaps. It may end up just being something favored by an SMB focused user base that are constantly on Facebook managing their business page.
I checked a few of my business pages and could not post directly from there. Only my personal account at this point.
Time will tell.
Anyway I’m gonna go listen to another Eminem tune, Deja Vu. It sounds fitting for this moment.
