In my ongoing effort to profile the worlds job boards, I’d you to meet SideHustles.com. They also have a great domain and a great niche! I caught up with their leadership recently and here’s what they told me.
Whats the origin story?
We started Side Hustles back in 2024, and launched our job board in 2026. Like everyone else in the US, we noticed the trend of people starting up part-time and side jobs to catch up in an increasingly K-shaped economy where the rich keep getting richer but most people with one income stream are in danger of falling behind.
Side hustling is no mystery to our founder, Lawrence Ng, whose story we’ve posted on the site. To earn extra money as a teen—after his family immigrated to New York with nothing—he worked more than a dozen part-time jobs, including stints in two separate assembly-line factories and one in a restaurant.
Why this niche?
It’s easy to wish that wasn’t the reality for millions of people, but as long as it is, we want to make finding a second job or starting a side gig less painful.
What is your pricing/revenue model?
What’s amazing about Side Hustles is that it’s currently the only completely free job board on the web. We don’t even require signing up. Eventually, that will change, so get in while the getting is good, but even when it does, we will never “gate” our remote jobs (or any jobs), and we hope job hunters will appreciate that.
What tech is the site built on?
Side Hustles is built on a WordPress base with a Golang API that interfaces with a Postgres database, and is hosted on DigitalOcean.
Most Popular Content?
Our most popular article is “Get Paid to Chat: 17 Apps … https://sidehustles.com/get-paid-to-chat/“—it makes sense, right? Everyone has a phone, and just chatting with people sounds like the ultimate laid-back dream job. Like a lot of side hustles, it’s not as easy as it seems and might not be as lucrative as you need it to be, but there are legit pathways to doing it, and many people are just happy to earn some beer money, so hey, there it is.
